The new Renault Filante [RENAULT]
The new Renault Filante is winning over customers since delivery started, garnering praise for its crossover design, smooth ride and fuel efficiency thanks to its E-Tech hybrid technology.
The design is the result of a collaboration between the automaker’s Korean and French design centers, gaining attention for its “charismatic and bold” style, blending a sedan with an SUV. The front façade incorporates an illuminated version of its losange logo and grille, with light-emitting diode (LED) headlights rounding out a fluid appearance.
The bone line running along the profile of the vehicle combines with a hatchback-style rear-end to create a “floating rear spoiler.”. The angular shapes establish a dynamic SUV silhouette, while the smooth taper of the tailgate and LED taillights impart a robust profile.
On the road, the Filante offers the smooth ride of a sedan that belies its SUV persona. An engine bay designed to fit the brand’s 1.5-liter turbo hybrid engine enhances mobility, while a multilink rear suspension reduce ride vibrations and noise while strengthening performance and safety with input from the smart frequency damper suspension, which detects vibration and adjusts in real time for a stable ride on diverse terrain.
The Filante also adopted an active noise-cancelling feature for the frame and doors, with enhanced sound-absorbing material applied under the hood to offer a quiet ride.
With a length of 4,915 millimeters (165 inches), a width of 1,890 millimeters, a height of 1,635 millimeters and a wheelbase of 2,820 millimeters, the crossover offers a comfortable 320 millimeters of legroom and 886 millimeters of headroom. The cabin embodies a “premium technology lounge,” with environmentally friendly materials, an ergonomic design and connectivity technology completing the interior.
The Filante’s dual-motor E-Tech drivetrain is surprisingly efficient for the car’s size, with a combined fuel economy of 15.1 kilometers per liter (35.5 miles per gallon), with the 1.5-liter gasoline engine providing 148 horsepower while two electric motors cranking out 246 horsepower. A 1.64-kilowatt lithium-ion battery can cover up to 75 percent of city driving in electric mode.
The seats are fitted with integrated headrests for a “first-class lounge seat,” while a 1.1-square-meter (11.8-square-foot) panoramic sunroof with a silver-coated solar film instills a sense of openness.
With a combination of elegant aesthetics inside and out along with a smooth ride with an efficient performance, Renault is once again winning over customers.
