As the global mobility and sustainable energy industries rapidly evolve, the next generation of experts from Korea International School (KIS) Jeju descended on the 13th International e-Mobility Expo to gain insights into future careers.

The group, composed of students with keen interests in science and engineering, were on hand to volunteer at the event, held at Jeju Shinhwa World from March 24 to Friday. The expo is one of Asia’s major mobility and energy forums, bringing together global experts, researchers and industry leaders to discuss emerging technologies in EVs, battery innovation, renewable energy and smart mobility systems.

The students assisted with event operations, including visitor guidance, coordination and interpretation assistance for international participants, while also attending major forum sessions.

One such panel discussion was the Global Sustainable Energy (Battery/Dispersion) Business SRT Forum on Friday, where experts discussed the future of battery technologies and distributed energy systems as well as the global transition toward carbon-neutral mobility.

The event’s organizers lauded the students’ presence, noting that youth participation in such events cultivates the next generation of sustainable technology innovators.

Kim Dae-hwan, the chairman of the expo’s organizing committee, stressed the importance of student engagement to nurture future industry leaders. That sentiment was echoed by Dr. Oh Dong-jo of Hanwha Aerospace, who encouraged the attendees to participate in competitions hosted by Hanwha.

The school was equally effusive, with Ryu Jae-myong, a college counselor at KIS Jeju who coordinated the participation, praising the event for offering the group a valuable opportunity.

“Participating in an international forum while also contributing through volunteering allowed students to experience the global mobility industry firsthand,” Ryu said. “It was a meaningful opportunity for students interested in science, energy and future technologies.”

Both parties agreed that the collaboration provided the leaders of tomorrow with unique exposure to future growth drivers as they learned about emerging technologies and heard from global experts.

For the students, the event wasn’t merely a volunteer activity; it was also a chance to explore potential careers and understand the global challenges — and opportunities — shaping the mobility and energy sectors.
