"ShootAround" (2015-2017), a webtoon originally published under Naver's English-language platform, is set to be adapted to a live-action film by Lion Forge Entertainment and Webtoon Entertainment.
The upcoming film will be written by screenwriter Aiyana K. White, who was involved in the production of Showtime original series "Billions" (2016-2023) and Apple TV series "Severance" (2022), according to the U.S.-based magazine Variety on Tuesday.
"ShootAround" is a zombie apocalypse webtoon following the story of a high school basketball team amid a zombie outbreak. It has amassed over 28 million views as of press time.
It is authored by Finnish cartoonist Susanna Nousiainen, who goes by the pen name suspu.
Webtoon Entertainment, headquartered in Los Angeles, has been gearing up to create webtoon-based content in recent years. The company signed a partnership with Disney in August 2025 to recreate Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and 20th Century Studios comics into webtoon format — where users are scrolling top to bottom — and release brand-new original webtoons.
The firm also partnered with Warner Bros. Animation to create 10 animations based on webtoons in November.
