Eagles sign minor league pitcher Jack Cushing as injury replacement

The Hanwha Eagles announced Saturday that they have signed longtime minor league pitcher Jack Cushing as a temporary injury replacement.
 
Cushing, 29, will fill in for Owen White on a six-week contract worth $60,000. The American right-hander can earn another $30,000 in incentives.

A 22nd-round pick by the Oakland Athletics in the 2019 major league draft, Cushing has reached as high as Triple-A in the minors. He has bounced between Triple-A and Double-A over the past four seasons. He has a 14-7 record with an 8.10 ERA in 69 career games in Triple-A, including 15 starts.
 
In 2025, Cushing led the Pacific Coast League in Triple-A with 11 wins while pitching for the Athletics' affiliate in Las Vegas. He recorded 83 strikeouts against 28 walks in 79 2/3 innings.
 
White, who signed with the Eagles in December, tore his left hamstring while covering first base in a double play attempt during his KBO regular-season debut on Tuesday.
 
The Eagles said Cushing will arrive in Korea early Sunday and will make his league debut as early as next weekend.
 
KBO teams are allowed to sign temporary replacements for injured foreign players to six-week contracts.
