An exhibition featuring RM’s personal art collection will open at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) in San Francisco from Saturday to Feb. 7, 2027.

Titled “RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me,” the exhibition will be the first to showcase the rapper’s personal art collection, according to his agency BigHit Music on Wednesday.

“Nothing reflects a person’s character more than the collection that they have collected over the years,” RM said through his agency. “My collection features a long lineup of Korean contemporary artworks. Some of the names may still be unfamiliar [to those] outside Korea, but I wanted to introduce a fresh perspective [to people], which led to this exhibition.”

RM was involved with the planning and curation. He also wrote and recorded the audio guide and written explanations of the displayed artworks in both Korean and English and personally selected the gallery’s music.

The upcoming exhibition is the museum’s first collection shown in collaboration with a K-pop artist, according to the agency. The museum first reached out to suggest the project, given RM’s well-known and continued passion for contemporary art.

The exhibition will display approximately 180 artworks selected by RM and the museum.

Selected artworks include those by contemporary Korean artists such as Yun Hyong-keun, Park Re-hyun, Chang Ucchin, as well as pieces by Kim Whanki, Nam June Paik, Mark Rothko from SFMOMA’s collection.

The exhibition will invite new voices and welcome guests who have been introduced to Korean arts through RM, according to Christopher Bedford, the director of SFMOMA. The director added that the upcoming showcase closely aligns with the museum’s goal of expanding global conversations surrounding diverse artworks.
