Jaehyun of boy band NCT has been selected as the artist whose “voice is more heart-fluttering during live broadcasts than on stage” in a fan poll conducted by voting platform Picnic.
Jaehyun received 15,033 votes, edging out Seonghyeon of boy band Cortis, who received 14,251 votes, and L of veteran boy band Infinite, who received 11,621 votes.
The poll ran for two weeks from Aug. 12 to Aug. 26, with fans from 175 countries participating.
According to Picnic on Wednesday, Jaehyun is known for his stable low and midrange vocals and has shown a different side of his voice through his R&B-influenced solo music. While NCT is known for its powerful performances, Jaehyun has showcased a softer, more subdued vocal style in his solo songs.
Jaehyun has also continued to communicate directly with fans, sending a personal message through a fan community on Aug. 21, the platform noted.
“An artist’s voice is one of the images fans encounter most often, not only when listening to music but also through live broadcasts and fan communication,” a representative from Picnic said.
“Jaehyun’s first-place finish shows that the vocal image he has built through his music and the voice he shows when communicating with fans are contributing to his personal brand value.”
In June, Jaehyun kicked off his solo fan concert tour “Mono” in Seoul. The concert marked his first solo performance since completing his mandatory military service, and was sold out.
Jaehyun debuted in 2016 as a member of NCT and is part of several of the group’s subunits, including NCT U, NCT 127 and NCT Dojaejung.
NCT 127 released its seventh full-length album “Blingy” on Aug. 24.
Picnic hosts weekly polls on a wide range of K-pop topics in collaboration with the Korea JoongAng Daily.
Participation in the polls is available through Picnic’s official website and mobile app.
