Minhyuk of boy band Monsta X will release his first solo track, “Reaching,” on Friday, according to his agency Starship Entertainment.

The digital single falls under the modern rock genre and features guitars and drums, Starship Entertainment said. The lyrics convey a person’s sincere longing and heartfelt affection for another and their hope that their feelings will reach them.

Singer-songwriter Ha Hyun-sang composed the song and wrote the lyrics.

“I wrote the song while thinking of Minhyuk, who is a brave and kind-hearted person,” Ha said regarding his inspiration. “I also wanted to convey [my] feelings to him.”

Minhyuk first revealed the track on the group’s world tour “The X: Nexus,” even personally playing the guitar during these performances.

“Reaching” will be released on various music streaming platforms at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Minhyuk debuted as a member of Monsta X in 2015. The group is known for hit songs such as “Dramarama” (2017), “Shoot Out” (2018) and “Love Killa” (2020).
