The Korean production comes just barely two years after the production’s original Broadway opening in 2024.

Set in New York City in the 1990s, the show follows an aspiring teenage musician who lives in the city’s Hell’s Kitchen district. The musical contains '90s hip-hop-inspired songs, choreography and costumes.

The production features both original scores and well-known New York-themed songs, such as rapper Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” (2009) featuring Grammy-winning singer Alicia Keys. Keys is also the show’s producer and has worked on the project for 13 years.

The original Broadway production was nominated for 13 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, in 2024, tying for the highest number of nominations that year. It won awards for Best Leading Actress in a Musical and Best Featured Actress in a Musical.
