Korean Japanese boy band Orbit will launch activities in Korea later this month, marking a new chapter for the group after it signed with a new agency.
The group, whose name is officially spelled with the beta symbol in place of the Latin alphabet letter “b,” is set to release its fourth EP, “Trans,” at 6 p.m. on April 28 across major streaming platforms, its agency Play Maker E&M said on Tuesday.
Orbit recently unveiled teasers for the album through its official social media channels, signaling the start of its full-fledged activities in Korea following the agency transfer.
The teasers center on the theme of a “new beginning,” according to Play Maker E&M, adding that the title of the album reflects the group’s aim to “transcend geographic boundaries.”
The album will include original Korean tracks and Korean-language versions of previously released songs.
Members participated in the songwriting, with the album highlighting the group’s musical identity through songs that blend different languages and styles, the agency said.
Orbit consists of Korean and Japanese members who participated in the first season of the reality competition show “Produce 101 Japan” in 2019. Since its debut that same year, Orbit has been primarily active in Japan. Its current members are Younghoon, Yoondong, Tomo, Shunya and Yugo.
The band plans to roll out a range of promotional content in the lead-up to its Korean debut, as it seeks to broaden its engagement with fans, its agency said.
