The Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Jongno District, central Seoul, is set to launch a guided backstage tour curated for English speakers, it announced on Thursday.

Beginning with a historical overview of the building, the tour will include access to the center’s performance halls, including backstage; its practice rooms; and its upcoming rooftop observatory slated to officially open in October.

The Sejong Center for the Performing Arts is a multipurpose arts and cultural venue that was founded in 1978 and is run by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The tour aims to provide insight into the historical value of the Sejong Center, its operations and the production process behind its shows, the center said.

Pilot runs will take place for free throughout April before launching as a paid program in May. Registration opens on the performing arts center’s official website at 10 a.m. on Monday.

“[The tour] offers a behind-the-scenes look into the history of Seoul and the city’s performing arts scene,” said Ahn Ho-sang, the center’s CEO, through a press release on Thursday. “I hope the program will serve as an opportunity to deliver the depth and charm of the city and its performances to those from abroad.”
