LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo called for faster execution of AI initiatives across the conglomerate, saying speed matters more than perfect planning, at a meeting of top affiliate executives on Wednesday.

Around 40 executives convened at LG's Namsan Leadership Center in Jung District, central Seoul, to discuss strategy amid supply chain disruptions caused by geopolitical tensions, LG said Thursday.

"What matters most [for AI transformation] is speed. Rather than perfect planning, we need fast execution," Koo is quoted as saying. "We should quickly implement even small initiatives in areas with business impact, accumulate results and scale them.”

LG defines AI transformation, or AX, as a company-wide transition to use AI for business operations, such as improving decision-making and automated workflows in manufacturing and administrative processes.

The group has also been pushing to shift from a hardware-focused company to one that integrates more AI services.

“AI is not just a tool to improve efficiency and productivity [...] but a fundamental shift required to prepare for a new era,” Koo said. "Understanding and responding to this shift will determine the future of our business."

He urged CEOs and other business heads to take clear, decisive action on leading AX.

Executives shared the view that overcoming unpredictable market conditions will require "structural innovation" and defined AX as a top priority to make businesses more competitive, LG said.

They agreed to accelerate AX across the value chain, from design and production to marketing.
