The travel advisory for six locations near Turkey's border with Syria was upgraded to a Level 2 special travel advisory, effective at 9 p.m., the ministry said, noting the measure is issued for areas facing temporary but urgent risks.
The government advised Korean nationals to cancel or delay travel to the region and urged those already there to pay special attention to their safety.
A Level 3 travel warning — which recommends Korean nationals to leave — will remain in place for five regions located within 10 kilometers of the Syrian border, including the southeastern province of Batman.
Iran recently launched ballistic missiles toward Turkey following massive strikes on Tehran and other areas by the United States and Israel. Turkish authorities said NATO air defenses intercepted the missiles, with debris falling in areas including Hatay and Gaziantep.
