The Turkish Embassy in Seoul hosted a celebration to commemorate the 101st anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Turkiye on Tuesday at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel in Jung District in central Seoul.

Korean diplomats, military officials, their Turkish counterparts and Turkish nationals in Korea gathered at the event to cherish and strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.

Turkish Ambassador Murat Tamer said during his opening remarks, “The cooperation of the two friendly and brotherly countries in every field has continuously increased in the last 70 years. Our trade volume has reached almost $11 billion as of 2023, and our political commercial and military relations as well as our tourism have gained great momentum.”

“A large number of high-level military visits including those of the force commanders reciprocally took place this year,” Tamer added, noting his country’s defense industry has been strengthened with “Korean friends.”

The ambassador also emphasized the “mega-projects completed by the Turkish-Korean partnership,” such as bridge and intercontinental tunnel constructions.
