As the retirement pension market rapidly approaches 400 trillion won ($272.8 billion), Mirae Asset became the first in the industry in Korea to adopt a global pension management system to take full charge of the differentiated services offered by major companies.
The Global Pension Desk (GPD) was established to alleviate the difficulties global firms face in navigating domestic pension policies and strict risk management. Earlier this year, Mirae Asset founded the Global Companies Head Office to take exclusive charge of relevant firms.
The GPD consists of specialists in diverse areas including certified tax accountants, associated of the society of actuaries, charted financial analysts and certified public labor attorneys, forming a “specialist network” that provides comprehensive global consulting on laws, human resources and taxes. It also provides English-speaking specialists allowing foreign staff from headquarters and Korean offices to communicate.
One of the categories covered by the service is human resources management support, boosting pension management efficiency by analyzing pension operations and suggesting labor supervision strategies, easing legal liability.
Asset consulting assists in establishing an investment policy statement by analyzing data-based earnings ratios and specialized consulting such as planning defined contribution policies.
The information subscription service provides timely information through a newsletter that covers major policy changes and global pension market trends.
The new initiative is designed to further cement Mirae Asset’s dominance in retirement funds; by the end of last year, the firm topped the industry in both defined contribution pension assets and annual growth.
The company is also unmatched in its certification as an “excellent retirement pension operator” by the government for four straight years. Mirae Asset also holds certifications related to global standard information security and private information security, while meeting environmental, social and governance security requirements as a member of the Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index for 13 years.
