Actor Yoo Yeon-seok appointed as professor at Sejong University

Actor Yoo Yeon-seok has been appointed as a professor at Sejong University, his alma mater, to teach acting to students, beginning in the spring semester.

The actor is a specially appointed professor and will teach the Multimedia Performance course to senior students in the acting arts major at the Department of Film Art this semester, the university announced Friday.

The course focuses on teaching how students can adapt to the demands of different media environments, such as theater, musicals, film and TV dramas.

While teaching at the university, the actor will go by his real name Ahn Yeon-seok, rather than his stage name Yoo Yeon-seok.

Sejong University expects the actor's extensive acting experience to help students in the Department of Film Art.

“Actor Yoo Yeon-seok is someone who sets an example for students not only through his acting but also through his diligence,” said a spokesperson for Sejong University. "We expect his appointment as professor to not only to enhance the department’s reputation but also serve as strong motivation for students."

Yoo enrolled in Sejong University's Department of Film Art in 2003 to earn his bachelor's degree. He also earning a masters of fine arts from the same university's Department of Film Arts. He debuted as an actor through the film "Old Boy" (2003), starring in popular dramas such as "Reply 1994" (2013), "Mr. Sunshine" (2018) and "Hospital Playlist" (2020).
