Olive Young opened its first distribution center in California, the beauty retailer said Thursday, ahead of the opening of its first North American brick-and-mortar store in May.
The K-beauty retailer plans to expand the distribution center as demand increases and also aims to open a new center on the East Coast for full coverage in North America.
Olive Young’s new distribution center is in Bloomington, near San Bernardino, an hour's drive away from Los Angeles.
Bloomington is also 50 miles away from Pasadena, where Olive Young's first U.S. store will be located.
The 3,600 square-meter (38,570 square-foot) distribution center will act as a central hub for Olive Young’s U.S. operations.
“As we now have a distribution infrastructure set up, we will also be supporting the brands that are trying to enter the local market,” Olive Young said, adding that the company will be “directly and indirectly” supporting customs, stock management and delivery in the United States.
K-beauty firms entering Sephora’s “K-Beauty Zone,” a dedicated area for Korean cosmetics and skincare products chosen by Olive Young, will be the first ones to benefit from the company's support and its distribution center.
“It’s a meaningful achievement for us to open the distribution center ahead of the local store opening in May, as we managed to establish a core distribution network that can stably take care of the K-beauty demand,” an Olive Young spokesperson said in a press release.
Olive Young will also open at least two more stores in the United States this year, including a second store in Los Angeles within the Westfield Century City shopping mall.
