The Seoul Immigration Office announced Tuesday that it has designated March as the intensive service period for international students’ civil affairs and will be running a designated window for international students throughout the month.
The office said it will assign separate registration periods based on the number of international students at each university within its jurisdiction and designate visit dates accordingly to prevent congestion. It will also operate window No. 8 at the civil service office on the first floor as a dedicated counter for international students to handle student cases more efficiently.
The application dates by university are March 6 for Seoul National University, March 10 for Gachon University, March 12 for Konkuk University, March 13 for Hanyang University, March 19 for Chung-Ang University, March 20 for Soongsil University, March 23 for Sejong University and March 26 for Sookmyung Women’s University.
According to the Seoul Immigration Office, D-2 and D-4 visa holders, as well as university officials, may visit the office without a reservation through March 31 to process services such as alien registration, required notifications, extensions of stay and changes of stay status at the dedicated window.
This initiative follows the office’s announcement in November 2024 to efficiently distribute civil service demand during peak months each semester, particularly in March and September.
“We will actively support international students’ early settlement and minimize administrative inconvenience for universities by swiftly issuing alien registration numbers and reducing civil service congestion,” said Ban Jae-yeol, head of the Seoul Immigration Office.
