Singer Taemin of boy band SHINee has parted ways with Big Planet Made Entertainment following the end of his exclusive contract, the agency announced Tuesday.
An exclusive contract in the K-pop industry is a binding agreement that grants an entertainment agency the sole right to manage and represent an artist’s activities, promotions and earnings for a fixed period of time.
“We kindly ask for your continued support and attention as the artist moves forward,” the agency said in a statement.
The agency did not provide any other details on the termination of the contract.
Taemin remained with SM Entertainment from his 2008 debut with SHINee until 2024, when he moved to Big Planet Made Entertainment.
Taemin debuted as a member of SHINee in 2008. Since debuting as a solo singer in 2014, he has released songs such as “Guess Who” (2016), “Sexuality” (2016), “Advice” (2021), “The Rizziness” (2023), “Guilty” (2023), “G.O.A.T” (2024) and “Sexy In The Air” (2024).
He also performed at the Grammy Museum for the “Global Spin Live” program in the Los Angeles on Jan. 20. “Global Spin Live” is a live talk and performance show that highlights the achievements of music artists from around the world.
