Girl group Rescene was named an honorary ambassador of Goyang, Gyeonggi, the group’s agency, The Muze Entertainment, said on Friday.

The group was appointed on Thursday by the Goyang city government, reflecting its connection to the city through its member May.

“We are honored to be appointed honorary ambassadors for Goyang, May’s hometown,” the members said in a statement. “We will actively promote [the city’s] attractions, culture and tourism to those in Korea and abroad.”

The group will appear in various videos and social media content to promote the city.

The appointment is the latest in a series of local government ambassador roles for the band, following a viral YouTube video featuring members Woni and Minami visiting the former’s hometown of Geoje, South Gyeongsang. The group also serves as honorary ambassadors for Geoje; Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang, member Zena’s hometown; and Suwon, Gyeonggi, member Liv’s hometown.

Rescene debuted in March 2024 with the EP “Re:Scene” and consists of five members: Zena, May, Liv, Minami and Woni. The group is set to release the single “Pretty Girl” on Wednesday, which is a remake of girl group Kara’s song “Pretty Girl” (2009).
