As sustainability weaves its way into everyday life with environmentally conscious living, the Seoul Design Foundation is hosting the Greenchips Seoul Festival at Dongdaemun Design Plaza’s Oullim Square.

Running from Oct. 14 through Oct. 25, the 12-day interactive festival celebrates sustainable design and the hands-on value of resource recycling, timed to coincide with Seoul Design Week.

To make the experience welcoming to all, this year’s festival will make the concept of resource circulation accessible under the slogan “Pick Your Chip, Dream Your Cloud,” depicting the journey of turning recycled raw material through the pro-sustainability joint marketing brand as a narrative of growth.

As visitors stroll through the “Greenery Garden” — a newly created urban oasis at the heart of the venue — they can view an array of products crafted from recycled raw materials. On-site, 37 different products from 20 small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) centered on environmental, social and governance-based products are on display.

An indoor exhibition space symbolizes nature's cycle through the imagery of a cloud. A striking visual metaphor for the circulatory principle of a cloud is on display, demonstrating how products become part of a circular economy.

Every nook and cranny of the exhibition center is decorated with the company’s “Gardener” characters. By portraying the Greenchips character “Gardener” nurturing environmentally friendly products, it deepens the immersive imagery of demystifying the abstract notion of cycling.

The festival goes beyond the captivating visuals; it marks a significant milestone and serves as a vital nexus for SMEs with limited direct consumer access, promoting sustainable products and services. Participating companies also create new consumer touchpoints and offer opportunities to embrace sustainability as part of their lifestyle.

Ultimately, beyond offering simple green concepts, it highlights how conscious choices translate seamlessly into personal preferences and lifestyle, fostering broader public engagement.

The Greenchips Seoul Festival opens on Oct. 14 and runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. From Oct. 15 to 24, daily hours will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., concluding with a final-day schedule on Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
