Huons took a step toward establishing an end-to-end pharmaceutical production framework in June with a merger with HuonsLifeSciences, a wholly owned subsidiary, consolidating manufacturing operations, production and quality control in a bid to respond quickly to the changing market environment.
Huons N, meanwhile, concluded a merger with its wholly owned subsidiary of the specialized health functional food manufacturer BioRosette earlier in the year, unifying research and development, manufacturing and export functions.
In July, Huons N expanded its health functional foods business, scaling up capacity at its plant in Chuncheon, Gangwon, by around 200 percent for an annual output of 10,000 tons, along with a water extraction system that further raised capacity by 6,500 tons.
The Chuncheon facility was also awarded Process Safety Management certification on Sept. 3, reflecting the company’s safety-oriented production process. The plant produces ginseng, red ginseng concentrates and probiotic ingredients.
Huons N’s production capabilities in health functional foods, original equipment manufacturing and original design manufacturing have been leveraged to establish an annual capacity of 3,000 tons for microbial fermentation featuring the patented YT1 strain for improving women’s menopausal health.
BioRosette, meanwhile, will target overseas markets with FSSC 22000 Food Safety certification for the manufacture of diverse dosage forms including liquids, powders, tablets and hard capsules.
Huons Group has expanded its competitiveness globally.
In Vietnam, Hu M&C Vina’s facility produces medical glass containers and cartridges for global export. In Telangana, India, Huons Meditech is boosting price competitiveness with the country’s Vasu Group with a complete knock-down line for the local production of endoscope reprocessors.
To handle the commercial finished-goods production of human-derived hyaluronidase — a biopharmaceutical under development by Huonslab — Humedix has received official Good Manufacturing Practice approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, expanding its footprint in the bio- contract manufacturing organization market.
Huons Group said it is strengthening core manufacturing competitiveness across diverse healthcare businesses with the aim of expanding its footprint to continuously improve production efficiency and quality management.
