Incheon takes quantum leap as premier MICE destination

Incheon, as the primary gateway to Korea, is much more than merely the entry point to the country; it is a dynamic hub where global organizers and participants converge — a destination for global meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) tourism.

Incheon, as the primary gateway to Korea, is much more than merely the entry point to the country; it is a dynamic hub where global organizers and participants converge — a destination for global meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) tourism.

Leveraging its world-class airport, the city provides seamless accessibility between Songdo and the Yeongjong-gu area, as well as unrivaled MICE infrastructure. Expertise spans from bidding for international events to successful hosting, as well as a range of tourism content that explores Incheon.

This growing competitiveness is clearly reflected in global metrics. In 2025, according to the recent International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) announcement, a benchmark indicator for the global business events and MICE industries, Incheon hosted 24 international events, ranking third domestically, 23rd in Asia, and 112th globally, that gained first-ever recognition.

The range of international events is not limited to the conference space; from convenient international accessibility to expert facilities and stable support for hosts, leaving a lasting impression on every attendee.

Incheon excels across these criteria, with a highly versatile MICE stronghold, and venues are selected for events based on their characteristics and scale. The area near the airport, Yeongjong-gu, is home to integrated resorts such as Paradise City and INSPIRE Entertainment Resort. Notably, Paradise City offers diverse entertainment options, including accommodation, dining, shopping, and a spa, all in one place, with a grand ballroom that seats about 2,000 people.

Incheon has another core MICE hub in Songdo, an Incheon Songdo International Conference Complex Zone (ICCZ). Centered on Songdo ConvensiA, every amenity is within walking distance of top-quality hotels and restaurants as well as shopping and tourist spots. These special infrastructure features will be showcased at the 2026 World Congress of the WFDSA in Incheon, Korea, from Oct. 19 to 21, with global market leaders and about 500 committee members converging on the city.

A half-day tour for approximately 200 participants and a sunset dinner are scheduled at the Imagination Platform in the Open Port Area, with the Incheon MICE Alliance showcasing hanbok (traditional Korean dress), K-food, hwamunseok (sedge mat weaving), hanji (traditional paper) crafts, and makgeolli (rice wine) making, in collaboration programs where participants can experience Korean and Incheon culture.

Demonstrating its momentum, Incheon successfully landed the 2030 Congress of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS 2030), a prestigious international academic conference in geospatial information. The city triumphed over Nairobi, Kenya; Sydney, Australia; Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates; and Wuhan, China.

With systematic support from the Incheon Tourism Organization, the city launched a Korean bid team, invited executives to visit Korea, and won the host selection in a romp.

The congress will run from June 29 to July 6, 2030, at Songdo ConvensiA, with around 3,000 participants from 100 countries attending. The expected local economic windfall is based on the economic impact analysis module of the 2026 Incheon MICE Research Study, which estimates it at 29.9 billion won ($21.6 million).

Hosting spot for Incheon's MICE appeal stems from a winning combination of factors rather than any single asset. The Incheon International Airport, the differentiated MICE infrastructure all across Incheon from Yeongjong-gu to Songdo, and the historic open port offer delegates journeys that unfold across an interconnected landscape.

Having served as the gateway into Korea, Incheon is now a premier backdrop for international conventions.
