HD Hyundai E&F said Monday it has completed construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) cogeneration plant at the Daesan petrochemical complex in Seosan, South Chungcheong.

The facility has a generating capacity of 290 megawatts and can produce 321 tons of steam per hour. It relies on a high-efficiency combined-cycle gas turbine system fueled by LNG, allowing it to generate electricity and heat simultaneously.

HD Hyundai E&F, an energy subsidiary of oil refiner HD Hyundai Oilbank, spent roughly 435 billion won ($310 million) on the plant.

The power and steam produced will supply companies operating within the Daesan complex, including H&L Advanced.
