Korea's antitrust watchdog on Thursday launched on-site investigations into four major petrochemical firms over allegations of price-fixing amid growing concerns about rising consumer prices in the wake of the Iran war, sources said.
The Korean government is mandating that petrochemical companies reduce production capacity and restructure to secure state support amid a crisis driven by falling global prices and oversupply from China.
SK Incheon Petrochem has acquired LD Carbon, a Seoul-based start-up with technologies for recycling waste tires, the company said Sunday.
The ultimate goal is to make the livestock industry environmentally friendlier and cut carbon emissions by generating biogas from livestock manure, according to the company.
