The conservative People Power Party (PPP) suspended one of its prominent lawmakers on Friday, stripping her of her role overseeing Seoul’s local election campaign and deepening strains within the party just months before voters head to the polls.
People Power Party lawmaker Bae Hyun-jin reportedly underwent surgery to open part of her skull due to lingering symptoms from an assault in early 2024. Since the incident, Bae had complained of hearing loss, dizziness and headaches.
