New firefighters train for service

New firefighter recruits attend an entrance ceremony for the 43rd training class at the Gangwon Fire Service Academy in Taebaek, Gangwon, on July 7. The class consists of 119 recruits — 86 men and 33 women — who entered the academy the previous day. They will undergo 24 weeks of practical training in firefighting, rescue and emergency medical services through Dec. 18 before being assigned to fire stations across Gangwon. The academy also provides specialized training and certification programs for active firefighters.
