A joint burial at Daejeon National Cemetery honored two Korean War service members whose remains were recovered through Korea’s long-running excavation and DNA identification program.
Honor guards carry the remains of the late Pfc. Choi Baek-in and Pfc. Ha Chang-gyu during a joint burial ceremony for Korean War service members whose remains were recovered, held at the Daejeon National Cemetery in Yuseong District, Daejeon, on June 29. Korea has conducted a nationwide recovery program since 2000 to locate and identify soldiers still missing from the 1950–53 Korean War through battlefield excavations and DNA matching with surviving family members.
