A listing on secondhand marketplace app Karrot for a drawing by late SHINee member Jonghyun [SCREEN CAPTURE]
The seller explained the drawing is a portrait of Defconn, one of the hosts of MBC's "Weekly Idol" (2011-2025), which the late Jonghyun drew in 2015 when he was on the show.
The seller added that the drawing was acquired as a prize of an event run by the program's broadcaster, and that the drawing included a signature from Jonghyun.
The drawing was previously uploaded to Karrot, but was bumped up on Friday to appear in recent searches.
Jonghyun, whose real name was Kim Jong-hyun, was born on April 8, 1990. He debuted as a member of boy band SHINee in 2008 and died by suicide in December 2017. SM Entertainment, Jonghyun's agency at the time and the band's current agency, has kept the band's description as a five-member boy band on its official website even after Jonghyun's death.
If you or someone you know is feeling emotionally distressed or struggling with thoughts of suicide, LifeLine Korea can be contacted at 1588-9191 or the Crisis Counseling Center at 1577-0199. The Seoul Global Center offers English-language counseling. Contact 02-2075-4180 (+1) to arrange a session. Other international helplines can be found at www.befrienders.org.
