Entertainment company Galaxy Corporation, known for managing K-pop artist G-Dragon, is scheduled to open the world's first robot theme park on Tuesday, the company announced on Monday.
The 4.1-acre theme park in Gangdong District, eastern Seoul, is set to feature an interactive program incorporating K-pop and technology,
The park will also feature a robot arena where visitors can enjoy various robot shows, such as robot K-pop concerts, robot-drawing performances and interactive robot events for children, according to the company.
The event will invite 100 children, including 70 with borderline intellectual functioning, to participate in activities that allow them to interact with robots.
Galaxy Corporation plans to use the robot arena as a stepping stone to gradually expand its content that combines entertainment with technology. The company seeks to create a new cultural industry model focused on robot-based performances and experiences for the future.
"The Galaxy robot park will be more than just an ordinary theme park; it will be the starting point of robot culture expansion," said founder and CEO Choi Yong-ho. "We plan on expanding to the global market after starting in Korea."
Galaxy Corporation manages stars like actor Song Kang-ho and singer Taemin.
