Girl group i-dle will celebrate its eighth anniversary with a livestream on Saturday.
The group’s agency, Cube Entertainment, shared a celebratory post for its eighth debut anniversary on its official social media channels the same day.
“The reason that the past eight years have been filled with happy memories is all thanks to our fans, Neverland,” the members were quoted as saying in the agency’s press release.
The group — comprising Miyeon, Minnie, Jeon Soyeon, Yuqi and Shuhua — made its debut as (G)I-DLE on May 2, 2018, with the EP “I am.” The quintet is known for songs such as “Latata” (2018), “Tomboy” (2022), “Nxde” (2022) and “Queencard” (2023).
Last year, following the group’s rebranding to i-dle, its eighth EP “We are” surpassed 1.06 million copies in its first week of sales.
According to Cube Entertainment, the group will return with a new album in July.
“[The upcoming album] might feel a bit different from the image that people usually associate with i-dle. We’re curious about how it will be received,” the members said. “We’re trying a new style, but we’ll still capture the side of i-dle that fans love.”
“All the members still love music, and the strong trust and bond between us have made the team even stronger,” they added regarding the driving force behind their eight-year career.
In October last year, i-dle wrapped up its first arena tour in Japan alongside the release of its Japanese EP “i-dle” (2025). The group is currently on its fourth world tour, “Syncopation,” which kicked off on Feb. 22 in Seoul. i-dle is also set to perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago’s Grant Park on July 31.
According to posts on i-dle’s social media channels, the quintet will host a livestream to celebrate its eighth anniversary at 5 p.m. on Saturday via its official YouTube channel.
