Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back expressed hope Wednesday of expanding defense industry partnerships between Korea and Latvia during a meeting with the speaker of the Latvian parliament, Seoul's Defense Ministry said.
Ahn made the remarks during a meeting with Daiga Mierina, speaker of the Saeima, highlighting Korea's advanced defense technology and stable production and military logistics support capabilities, the ministry said in a release.
The two sides shared an understanding that cooperation in areas such as drones and anti-drone systems can lead to industry partnerships and efforts to stabilize supply chains.
"They agreed to work together to further develop bilateral cooperation in these areas in a future-oriented and mutually beneficial manner," it said.
Sharing the view on growing uncertainties from the current international security landscape, they also agreed to continue strengthening strategic communication to ensure peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in Europe.
