Kim Sung-tae, former chairman of Ssangbangwool, told a parliamentary hearing that funds sent to North Korea were not intended for stock manipulation and denied any collusion with President Lee Jae Myung. He also rejected allegations such as the so-called drinking party during the investigation. Once used by the opposition as a key line of attack against Lee and the Democratic Party, Kim’s statements are now being cited in ways that appear to ease political pressure on the ruling bloc, shifting the tone of the controversy.
