Lee maintains record approval of 69% as PPP plummets to lowest since rebranding

President Lee Jae Myung’s approval rating held at a record high in the latest poll, while support for the main opposition People Power Party fell to its lowest level since its renaming in 2020, according to the National Barometer Survey (NBS) on Thursday.
Lee’s approval rating recorded 69 percent for a third consecutive survey in the biweekly poll conducted between Monday and Wednesday among 1,005 adults aged 18 or older. He first reached the high in the fourth week of March.
Negative ratings of Lee also fell by 1 percentage point to 21 percent, according to Thursday's poll results.
Support for Lee's ruling Democratic Party rose accordingly, by 1 percentage point to 48 percent.
Approval of the main opposition People Power Party, on the other hand, fell by 3 percentage points to 15 percent, the lowest level since it was renamed from the United Future Party in September 2020.

The minor liberal Rebuilding Korea Party, minor conservative Reform Party and minor Progressive Party each recorded 2 percent. Twenty-nine percent of the survey participants said they supported no party, did not know or did not respond.
The margin of error of the NBS poll is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level. The response rate was 17.7 percent.
