Korea is set to launch a nationwide shopping festival at duty-free stores this weekend to attract more tourists and boost local consumption, its organizers said Thursday.
The Korea Duty-Free Festa 2026 will offer reduced prices of up to 60 percent on items sold at 21 duty-free stores located at airports and in the cities of Seoul, Busan and Jeju City, as well as online stores, according to the Korea Customs Service and the Korea Duty Free Shops Association.
The event is the seventh of its kind and will run from Saturday to May 31, overlapping with China's Labor Day holiday and Japan's Golden Week, the organizers said.
This year's Festa will also include several programs to revitalize the regional economy, including 30 million won ($20,275) worth of local gift vouchers, they added.
