Hotel Shilla will open a hotel under its Shilla Stay brand in Yancheng, China on April 28, marking the overseas debut of its premium business accommodation brand.
The move follows Hotel Shilla’s earlier expansions abroad under its upscale lifestyle line, Shilla Monogram, which opened a property in the historic Chinese city of Xi’an in February and in the Vietnamese resort city of Danang in 2020.
The new Yancheng hotel will feature 223 rooms and a range of facilities tailored to business needs, including an all-day dining restaurant, a Korean restaurant, a lobby lounge, banquet halls, meeting rooms, a fitness center and a laundry room.
The inclusion of a dedicated Korean restaurant is expected to differentiate Shilla Stay Yancheng from other accommodation providers in the city by offering both local customers and Korean visitors with what the company framed as distinct food and beverage offerings tied to its brand identity, according to the press release.
Yancheng, which is one of Jiangsu Province’s major economic centers, has emerged as a growing hub for manufacturing and new energy industries. The hotel is located in the city’s Economic and Technological Development Zone, a core industrial cluster where a number of Korean companies and suppliers operate.
Its proximity to the city’s largest international exhibition center is expected to support steady demand from business events and conventions, while the region’s coastal wetlands and eco-tourism sites offer an additional stream of leisure travelers.
Hotel Shilla said it plans to expand the Shilla Stay brand overseas through management contract structures, under which property owners retain ownership of hotel assets while the company provides branding and operational expertise.
The Shilla Stay brand, launched in 2013, targets business travelers by focusing on offering standardized service and design at more accessible price points.
The brand has so far been concentrated in Korea, where it operates 16 properties across major hubs including Seoul, Busan and Jeju.
