Police said on Friday that they have booked the manager of SPC Samlip's bread factory in Siheung, just southwest of Seoul, and three other representatives in connection with an accident last week, in which workers' fingers were severed.
The four representatives were booked on charges of professional negligence causing injury by the Gyeonggi Siheung Police Precinct on Thursday.
The accident occurred on April 10, when two workers had parts of their fingers severed during the replacement of a conveyor sensor. They underwent finger replantation surgery and are currently recovering.
The four representatives are accused of failing to fulfill their safety duties in connection with the accident. Their booking came just two days after President Lee Jae Myung instructed a thorough investigation into the case.
The factory manager has reportedly been separately booked on charges of violating the Occupational Safety and Health Act by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
In May last year, a worker was killed at the same factory after her upper body got caught in a conveyor belt during lubrication work. The factory was also hit by a fire in February, which left three workers injured.
