Wolf spotted for the first time 5 days after escape from zoo

A young wolf that broke out of a zoo in Daejeon has been seen for the first time since his escape last week, sources said Tuesday.

The wolf, named Neukgu, was reported to have been spotted on a small mountain near the Daejeon O-World theme park at 10:43 p.m. Monday, according to firefighting authorities.

Search authorities visited the area and confirmed the reported animal was Neukgu.

Preparations are underway to capture the wolf, they said.

Neukgu escaped by digging out of his enclosure at the zoo inside the Daejeon O-World theme park last Wednesday morning, prompting an extensive search and media coverage.
