Hanwha Eagles sent their slumping third baseman Roh Si-hwan to the minor league on Monday, hoping the 25-year-old slugger will rediscover his rhythm before long.

The Eagles sent Roh to their Futures League affiliate, and he will now have to spend at least 10 days away from the KBO club.

Roh, an eight-year veteran, started all 13 games for the Eagles so far this season but batted just 8-for-55 (.145) with no home runs and three RBIs. He has struck out 21 times while drawing just five walks.

Roh last played in the Futures League in 2021 while on an injury rehab assignment.

Roh set new career highs with 32 home runs and 14 steals last year, while matching his single-season best with 101 RBIs as the Eagles reached the Korean Series for the first time in 19 years.

The Eagles rewarded their franchise star with the richest and longest contract in KBO history, an 11-year pact worth 3.07 billion won ($20.6 million), in February. The deal will take effect next year.

Roh, who represented Korea at the World Baseball Classic in March, began the 2026 season as the Eagles' cleanup hitter. He collected three hits in his first 10 at-bats before hitting a dry spell. He went 0-for-14 over his past four games and was dropped down to the No. 6 spot in the batting order for the last two contests.

The usually steady fielder also committed three errors at the hot corner.

Despite Roh's struggles, the Eagles are second in the KBO with 86 runs scored and third in the league with a .279 batting average and 13 home runs.

The Eagles are also experiencing some pitching issues, sitting dead last among 10 clubs with a 6.41 ERA. They have dropped three straight games and entered the new week in a three-way tie for fifth place at 6 wins and 7 losses.
