Korea's market for cloud services surpassed 9 trillion won ($5.94 billion) in 2024 amid the growing demand from the AI industry, data showed Monday.
The size of Korea's cloud service market came to 9.26 trillion won in 2024, rising 25.2 percent from 7.4 trillion won tallied a year earlier, according to the data compiled by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Over the period, the number of related businesses advanced 13.5 percent to 2,712, and their workforce grew 8.4 percent to 33,000 workers.
The science ministry said it plans to continue efforts to foster the country's cloud computing industry, including establishing a state-run AI data center and launching a leasing program for GPUs.
"To address growing demand for cloud computing, a key foundation of national AI competitiveness, the government will work to support continued growth of the cloud market and expand its adoption in the public sector," the science ministry said.
