HD Hyundai Chairman Chung Ki-sun visited the group’s production facilities in Vietnam over a two-day trip, placing emphasis on workplace safety and on-site management.
On Tuesday, Chung toured HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding located in Khanh Hoa Province where he reviewed the construction of petrochemical product carriers currently under production. During the visit, he engaged with on-site personnel about operational challenges and stressed strict adherence to safety protocols.
The following day, Chung visited HD Hyundai Eco Vina, located about 120 kilometers south of Da Nang. The visit marked his first since the site’s acquisition was completed in December last year. HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, HD Hyundai’s shipbuilding intermediate holding company, acquired the facility from Doosan Enerbility for 290 billion won ($193 million). The company plans to develop the site into a regional hub for eco-friendly ship components and port equipment.

At Eco Vina, Chung inspected major facilities, including a tank manufacturing plant under construction, as well as port crane and liquefied natural gas production lines. He also conducted safety checks and reviewed potential risk factors across the site.
Following the inspections, Chung shared a meal with expatriate employees, expressing appreciation for their dedication and acknowledging the challenges of working abroad away from their families.
The trip marks his fifth on-site visit since assuming the chairmanship in October of last year. He has previously conducted inspections at domestic operations in Eumseong and Cheongju in North Chungcheong, and Ulsan, as well as at HD Hyundai Philippines Shipyard.
“On-site operations are the foundation of management, and the answers to all challenges lie in the field,” Chung said. “I will continue to visit frequently to work together with our teams to find solutions.”
