Hyundai Motor, BMW Korea and two other carmakers will voluntarily recall more than 400,000 vehicles in Korea to address defective components, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said Tuesday.
The four companies, which also include Kia and KG Mobility, are recalling a combined 408,942 units across 24 models, according to the Transport Ministry.
The recalls were issued to address a range of issues, including a software defect in the electric seat system of Hyundai Motor's Palisade sport utility vehicle and a potential fire risk linked to the air-conditioning wiring system in BMW's 520i sedan, the ministry said.
Vehicle owners can check whether their vehicles are subject to the recall by visiting the government website ( www.car.go.kr) or by calling 080-357-2500.
