President Lee Jae Myung's approval rating rose for the third consecutive week to 62.2 percent, driven by positive assessments of his livelihood-related policies and response to the Middle East crisis, a survey showed on Monday.
According to a Realmeter survey commissioned by a local news outlet, the positive assessment of Lee's performance edged up 1.9 percentage points from the previous week, while the negative assessment fell 2.5 percentage points to 32.5 percent.
The pollster attributed the rise to Lee's “crisis management,” citing his “pre-emptive” livelihood-related measures, such as the decision to draw up a supplementary budget and implement an oil price cap system to cushion the impact of the Middle East conflict.
The latest survey was conducted on 2,513 adults from March 16 through Friday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points, with a confidence level of 95 percent.
In a separate survey conducted by the same pollster on 1,005 individuals aged 18 and older on Thursday and Friday, the approval rating for the ruling Democratic Party rose 2.5 percentage points from a week earlier to 53 percent.
The approval rating for the main opposition People Power Party fell 3.8 percentage points to 28.1 percent.
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, with a confidence level of 95 percent.
