Prime Minister Kim Min-seok is set to depart Thursday for the United States and Switzerland to promote Korea's bid to host a UN hub for projects related to AI, his office said.
The tentatively named "UN AI hub" is a Korean government initiative aimed at bringing together UN bodies and Korea's private and public sectors to produce AI-based solutions to global issues.
Kim plans to visit Washington, New York and Geneva through March 19 and meet with heads of organizations, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, to discuss the plan.
The organizations he will visit include the UN, UNICEF and the United Nations Development Program in New York, as well as the World Health Organization, the International Labor Organization and the International Organization for Migration in Geneva.
The prime minister was this week named head of the UN AI hub bid committee.
This will mark his second visit to the United States in as many months. In January, he met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance in Washington.
His upcoming trip will also be used to meet senior U.S. officials, his office said, for talks likely to focus on tariffs and other pending issues between the two countries.
