President Lee Jae Myung on Wednesday congratulated Paralympian Kim Yun-ji on winning her second medal at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Paralympics in Italy, calling her a “multiplayer on the snowfield.”
Lee wrote the message on his Facebook account after Kim clinched a silver medal in the para cross-country skiing women's sprint sitting event at the Winter Paralympics on Tuesday, after she won the women's individual sitting title in the 12.5-kilometer biathlon on Sunday.
“Following the precision she displayed in the biathlon, Kim also excelled in cross-country skiing, powering across the snow with explosive strength and emerging as a true 'multiplayer on the snowfield,'” Lee wrote.
Lee said her silver medal is particularly meaningful as it marks the first medal won by a Korean female para cross-country skier in the history of both the Olympics and the Paralympics, adding that the result has helped the country surpass its previous best performance at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Paralympics.
“She is expanding the horizons of the Republic of Korea's winter sports with her outstanding talent,” Lee added.
Kim is set to compete in the cross-country 10-kilometer interval start race on Wednesday.
