Hyundai Mobis, Korea's leading auto parts maker, said on Tuesday that it has won an order from Mercedes-Benz AG to supply a key auto component for the brand's cars produced in Europe.

Under the deal, Hyundai Mobis will supply chassis modules to the German luxury carmaker, which will be produced at the company's newly built production plant in Kecskemét, Hungary, the Korean auto parts manufacturer said.

Hyundai Mobis did not provide the value of the contract, the supply volume of chassis module components, the time frame for the supply or other details.

It marks the second chassis module deal between the companies. Hyundai Mobis has been supplying the component for the German carmaker's vehicles produced in the United States since 2022.

Currently, Hyundai Mobis operates in four production plants in Europe, including one each in the Czech Republic and Turkey, which also supply components to the two car brands under Hyundai Motor Group: Hyundai Motor and Kia.

Hyundai Mobis's battery supply assembly production facility in Spain, the company's fifth European manufacturing hub, is set to start operations soon, the company added.

“We plan to expand the proportion of sales to global clients to 40 percent by 2033,” the company said.

It also reportedly seeks to expand in high-growth emerging markets, such as China and India.
