Scattered snow fell across Seoul on Friday as temperatures dropped sharply and strong winds swept through the capital, a day after Gyeongchip — the seasonal marker that signals frogs waking from hibernation — passed on Thursday.
 
Conditions were starkly different in Busan. Cherry blossoms were seen blooming at the main gate of Baehwa School in Suyeong District, drawing attention from passersby.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast that morning temperatures across most parts of the country will fall below freezing on Saturday.
 
Temperatures are expected to drop to minus 8 degrees Celsius (17.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in Cheorwon, Gangwon, minus 6 degrees Celsius in Paju, Gyeonggi, and minus 3 degrees Celsius in Seoul and Incheon.
 
Strong winds will make it feel even colder. The chilly weather is expected to continue through the weekend before temperatures gradually rise next week.
