Korea Investment & Securities will expand its investment and brokerage activities in China's capital markets through a newly established partnership with Guotai Haitong Securities, parent company Korea Investment Holdings said Monday.

Under the agreement, the two firms will pursue exclusive research collaboration, strengthen brokerage cooperation and promote cross-distribution of financial products. They will also work together on global investment banking initiatives across China and Hong Kong, with the aim of improving market access and trading efficiency for clients. In addition, the partnership seeks to expand joint business opportunities and information sharing across key investment sectors by leveraging each firm's product capabilities.

Guotai Haitong Securities, created through the merger of Guotai Junan Securities and Haitong Securities, is China's largest securities firm by equity capital. As of the third quarter of 2025, it reported total assets of 2 trillion yuan ($291.6 billion) and equity capital of 338.9 billion yuan.

The signing ceremony took place at Guotai Haitong's headquarters in Shanghai on Monday.

“This partnership marks an important starting point for strengthening our strategic presence in key Asian markets and providing clients with broader investment opportunities and deeper market insights,” said Kim Sung-hwan, president of Korea Investment & Securities. “We aim to build a cooperation model that delivers tangible results across both research and business operations.”

Li Junjie, president of Guotai Haitong Securities, said the agreement would “inject fresh momentum into capital market exchanges” between Korea and China.
