Kumho Tire achieved its highest sales figure ever, with 4.7 trillion won ($3.3 billion) in revenue and 575.5 billion won in operating profit in 2025, according to the company.
Kumho Tire showed a continued increase in sales in the U.S. and European tire markets, highlighting its ability to overcome numerous issues, including tariff hikes and a fire incident at its Gwangju plant. Going forward, the company is aiming to continue its growth and increase competitiveness in the future mobility industry.
Kumho Tire is focusing on strengthening its foundation in both domestic and global markets by supplying premium products, expanding global logistics and raising brand awareness.
To achieve its goals, the company has developed its own Digital Twin system that assists tire design and development through big data and AI in response to the fast-changing mobility industry.
It is also currently working on solutions for urban air mobility and is looking to industrialize its smart tire system, utilizing sensor modules that notify the driver of any issues or problems. Kumho Tire aims to apply the system to the U Line, a light rail service in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi.
In September last year, Kumho Tire signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Autonomous A2Z, a leading company in the self-driving car industry.
Autonomous A2Z ranks 11th among global companies in self-driving technology, gaining traction as a leader in the Korean industry. Through the MOU, Kumho Tire will supply tires for the Level 4 self-driving vehicle, ROii. The model was showcased on the global stage at APEC last year in Gyeongju, South Gyeongsang.
Kumho Tire is expected to continue developing tires for self-driving cars. Its airless tire technology and smart tires are expected to lead to higher safety and efficiency for autonomous vehicles.
The company is also focusing on research and development in its transition toward using fully sustainable materials by 2045. In 2023, it managed to develop a tire made of 80 percent sustainable materials.
“Throughout continued collaboration with premium carmakers and constant research and development, Kumho Tire aims to provide a better mobility experience to our customers,” said a Kumho Tire official.
