At least ten people were injured in an explosion at a military base in Paju, Gyeonggi, on Wednesday, around 3:30 p.m.
 
Two have been severely injured, according to reports.

The incident took place during unit artillery drills, which proceeded without live ammunition, according to the officials.
 
Most of the injured sustained burns, and two noncommissioned officers were airlifted to the Armed Forces Capital Hospital due to the severity of their burns. None of the injuries is life-threatening, according to military authorities.
 
The exploded round was not a live munition. It was a simulated explosive device used in training exercises to replicate the effects of a real detonation, according to the military.
