This November, HD Hyundai Oilbank, led by CEO Joo Young-min, will give away rice to bonus card customers at over 2,600 gas stations and charging stations across the country as part of its "White Rice Dream” event.
During the month, customers who spend over 40,000 won ($29) filling up at a petrol station or over 20,000 won at a charging station are given an opportunity to participate in a drawing for three 210-gram (7.4-ounce) packs of instant rice. The rice is made from premium-quality grains from a Seosan rice farm in South Chungcheong, near the petrochemical company’s Daesan plant.
This event features a collaboration with popular animation content creator Ddusike, who has 900,000 subscribers, and webtoon author Keykney.
Ddusike, with a unique style of art and storytelling, is contributing content that HD Hyundai Oilbank hopes will enamor customers with tales about a gas station from the perspective of inanimate objects.
Keykney, who became widely read with webtoons considered trendy and witty, will drop in promotions of white rice and Hyundai Oilbank's Kazen premium gasoline brand to introduce the company to the webtoon’s broad readership, which ranges from those in their 20s to those in their 50s.
The rice event is a signature of HD Hyundai Oilbank that has been held every fall since 2006 to spur an increase in rice consumption and support local farms. With new collaborations and promotional offers, the event has proven popular with customers.
“Through the event, we hope that the diverse products of HD Hyundai Oilbank can reach more consumers,” explained an associate of the company, adding that the company is “planning more fun-focused events as we want gas stations to feel like a welcoming, familiar place.”
